More Than a Meal — A Lifeline of Dignity, Connection, and Care

For nearly 60 years, Meals on Wheels Wichita County has been a lifeline for homebound and disabled adults, ensuring that no neighbor is left hungry, isolated, or forgotten.

Each weekday, more than 700 individuals across Wichita County receive a hot, nutritious meal delivered by one of our dedicated volunteers. Many of those we serve live alone, face mobility challenges, or manage chronic health conditions. For some, our delivery is not only their only meal of the day — it’s their only face-to-face interaction.

We don't just deliver meals.

We deliver hope, independence, and the reassurance that someone cares.

Our Mission

Meals on Wheels Wichita County serves Wichita County by meeting the nutritional needs of our most vulnerable neighbors while providing complementary services and meaningful connections to support their independence and well-being.

Our Programs

Meals on Wheels
Hot, nourishing meals delivered Monday through Friday to homebound seniors and disabled adults. We also provide weekend and holiday meals, ensuring no one goes hungry when our office is closed.

Congregate Meal Sites
Our Red Door and Green Door Senior Centers offer nutritious meals, social connection, and a welcoming environment for adults age 60 and older.

AniMEALS
Because pets are family too. We deliver weekly pet food to the beloved companions of our clients—so no one must choose between feeding themselves or their pets.

Kids Café
In partnership with the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank, we prepare over 5,000 meals monthly for the Kids Café program, supporting children in after-school and summer programs with nutritious meals.

Case Management
Our licensed social workers conduct wellness checks, connect clients to essential resources, and provide support during times of urgent need. We are the safety net behind the meal.

Who We Serve

Each year, we serve over 1,200 individuals, with an average client age of 71. Many face poverty, disability, isolation, and chronic health conditions such as diabetes, dementia, or depression. Our case management team helps address urgent needs and provides items like fans, blankets, incontinence supplies, and more — ensuring our clients remain safe, supported, and seen in their own homes.

Our Legacy

Founded in 1967 as Senior Citizens Services of North Texas, our organization began with just 50 clients and a handful of volunteers. In 2022, we embraced the name Meals on Wheels Wichita County to better reflect the scope of our service across the entire county. Today, while our name has changed, our mission remains the same: delivering nourishment, connection, and dignity to every doorstep we reach.
